- This is full-time, ongoing VPS5 role set to commence in January 2023
The hybrid model enables staff to work from home and in our newly fitted out office (close to the court-precinct) – where a calm, collaborative, collegiate workplace has been created. The Senior Lawyer will be part of a small high-performing team investigating complaints and providing expert legal advice and support to the Director and the Board. Responsibilities include assessment, investigation, analysis and drafting recommendations for the resolution of complaints. The Senior lawyer will be able to work autonomously, with a supportive mentor and team leader to provide guidance and training. Ongoing professional development is paramount/supported, with access to internal and external resources as needed.
The Senior Lawyer will also be responsible for liaising with external stakeholders including the public, members of the judiciary and the legal profession. The incumbent will contribute to the strategic initiatives and education functions of the Commission.
Experience in administrative law, litigation or advocacy or roles within courts or VCAT will be well regarded.
