About the position
The Senior Legal Counsel provides guidance, advice and assistance to the business in support of the Head of Legal and the Legal Counsel on a broad range of complex contracts, leases, regulatory, commercial, legal matters, and general compliance with law.
About the team
The Group Legal team is accountable for providing legal services and supporting the Group and its brands to maintain in step with relevant laws and regulations.
Some of your responsibilities may include:
Prepare contracts, leases, and other legal documentation utilising modern drafting techniques
Advise stakeholders about the appropriateness of proposed contractual provisions and on commercial matters generally
Conduct and manage litigation
Advise on intellectual property matters (including trademark registration)
Take carriage of general legal matters
Assist the Head of Legal in preparing reports and board papers, and undertaking key strategic projects
Conduct or assist negotiations about contracts and commercial transactions and technology contracts
Interpret existing lease and contract conditions and resolve any disputes
Advise on matters of Privacy and Consumer Law
Provide timely and effective advice on all legal requirements to relevant internal stakeholders
Identify opportunities and take action to develop productive and mutually beneficial partnerships
What we are looking for
You may come from a position from within a Legal Firm or may already be working as an In-House Counsel
Relevant Legal Qualifications and Admittance to practice law in Australia
At least 7+ years’ PAE within Corporate or Commercial environment, experience within Privacy and Technology would be highly regarded.
Experience within the ASX listed space would be advantageous
Strong Communication and Stakeholder Management Skills
