The Kardinia Park Stadium Trust manages GMHBA Stadium, a multi-purpose venue that hosts over 45 events each year, with over 250,000 visiting the stadium annually. The stadium is an icon of Geelong, the home of the Geelong Football Club and hosts an array of events. These have recently included Big Bash Cricket, International Cricket and Soccer, A-League Soccer, NRL, local football finals, community events such as the Festival of Sport and entertainment events such as international concerts and motorsport. Our mission is to inspire moments of happiness and joy through sport, entertainment and community activities and we are striving for our vision of being world class in everything we do. Our people oversee the event day delivery, maintain the stadium, manage finances and compliance, liaise with key stakeholders to create strong partnerships, focus on diversity and inclusion for our community and works hard to maximise the return on the Victorian Government’s investments in the stadium. GMHBA Stadium was recently voted Australia’s Best Regional Stadium and its recent major redevelopment now incorporates the Geelong Sports Museum and the Barwon Regional Cricket Centre.
Reporting to the General Manager - Venue and Commercial Operations, this exciting and dynamic role will lead the successful planning, delivery, and management of all events, aligning with the organisation’s customer experience program. You will be an exceptional collaborator and communicator, with an ability to align internal and external stakeholder groups, ensuring positive experiences that consistently achieve results. As a change agent, with an innovative style, you will enhance our contemporary event delivery models to transform teams and operations, while working closely with the rest of the business, including the finance department to manage relevant operating agreements and major contracts with service providers. Above all, you will be dedicated to and skilled in empowering your direct reports to achieve their full potential and foster ultimate engagement at work, while consistently delivering excellent outcomes.
The successful candidate will be a confident senior leader, capable to take a strategic vision into operational delivery. With an ability to seamlessly manage multiple stakeholder groups and competing priorities, you will demonstrate experience managing events at arenas and major stadiums, preferably including sporting events. You will have a proven ability to lead teams in a complex operating environment and a strong understanding of large crowd capacities and the intricacies of multiple activations, including security and safety considerations and risk management. Excellent written and communication skills and a passionate for delivering exceptional event experiences is essential for the position.
