About the client

This client is a leading Government Agency who is seeking an experienced Senior Manager News Strategy to lead the development and implementation of the news strategy, working closely with internal and external stakeholders, to facilitate effective communication with diverse audiences and maximise coverage and awareness of localised news opportunities across the state.

Day to day activities

Provide expertise and advice on news strategy to the Director of Communications Operations, considering project milestones, journalist deadlines, campaigns, and initiatives to support the department goals.
Create and deliver high-quality media releases and actively find local story opportunities to promote the department initiatives effectively across different regions.
Collaborate with the departments Communications Delivery and Operations on various media projects such as releases, events, and briefings, ensuring alignment with broader communication objectives.
Build and maintain relationships with media, the Minister's Office, government agencies, and stakeholders to facilitate timely and appropriate media activities.
Monitor, review, and evaluate news strategy, addressing complex issues and planning news delivery through suitable media channels.
Develop key messages, FAQs, and related materials for media events, incident responses, and stakeholder briefings.
Provide strategic advice on the best media channels to support successful communication and community engagement programs.
Ideal candidate
Tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience within media or public relations.
Ability to travel to outer suburban and regional locations, and work outside of core business hours in the evening and on weekends, as required
