Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as an independent body responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | Senior Media and Communications Officer
Within the NHVR, Corporate Affairs is responsible for providing responsive services through a network of offices
currently in Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania.
Primary Objective
To deliver consistent and effective media and communication for the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator to internal and
external stakeholders in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives and branding strategy.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Conceptualise, develop and implement NHVR media and communication plans/campaigns that deliver the desired
- Provide strategic advice to the Manager, Media and Communications on communication and media strategies to
- Provide leading practice and innovative media techniques to optimise and promote services delivered under the
- Develop and operationalise media,communication and engagement strategies to assist in achieving business
- Work in a highly collaborative manner with internal and external project stakeholders deliver effective media and
- Develop various media and communications material and products, including project collateral, media releases,
promotional materials.
- Prepare and deliver submissions, briefs, talking points, speeches and reports for a variety of settings.
- Ensure the corporate style guide is adhered to in all aspects of media, marketing and communication projects.
- Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Demonstrated ability and significant experience in developing and implementing innovative
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in media liaison and managing media enquiries.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships within the organisation and with a diverse range of

Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in media, communications, engagement or related discipline.
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in corporate communications/public affairs.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects to perform at a high level of accomplishment.
- Demonstrated media and communication experience dealing with complex issues.
