Job Description
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Senior Mine Planning Engineer will be responsible for supervising a mining engineering team to ensure that all planning tasks for our two mine sites are executed as per plan and in a safe and timely manner.
It is essential you bring strong technical experience from a similar role within underground hard rock mining. You will be an emerging leader with the ability to mentor and coach at all levels. The successful candidate will be driven by a challenge, collaborative and inclusive to allow them to leverage the departments skillset to achieve excellent results and ongoing improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Demonstrate proactive safety behaviour
- Provide clear direction to short and long-term planning and scheduling of drill and blast resources
- Ensuring that drill and blast procedures are engineered to keep risk at an acceptable level
- Managing drill and blast contractors as necessary
- Currently hold or be eligible to obtain a mine manager's certificate of competency
- Mentoring, training, and developing technical and operational workforce
- Liaising closely with all operational and technical teams to ensure compliance is maintained with regards to costs and productivity for delivering mining physicals
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
- A minimum of 7 years in operations, planning and production roles
- Strong planning and drill and blast experience in an underground hard rock metalliferous environment
- Advanced experience using Surpac or Deswik software
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Capable of working autonomously, but equally a strong team player within the Technical Services department
The Operation
Tritton Copper Operations employs more than 400 people and is located in Hermidale, in Central New South Wales. Tritton has two underground copper mines (Tritton and Murrawombie) and a mine life that stretches to 2030.
