The Client:
Sharp and Carter are proud to be partnering with a statuary authority charged with managing, operating and promoting the use of major public facilities for the staging of community, elite sporting and entertainment events. With a main purpose providing the best possible venue experience for their users and the community. They are tasked with the management of a number of venues across QLD.
The Position:
3 month contract with likelihood of extension.The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive network (data and voice) services. The key focus of the role is to ensure effective implementation, monitoring, maintenance and support services for all network devices and services. This includes, but is not limited to, all network switches, firewalls, security appliances and power protection systems to support a stable and resilient platform for the companies technology assets.
Key Accountabilities:
Develop, support and maintain business critical data communications networks including LAN, MAN, WAN and wireless infrastructure to ensure a stable and resilient platform for technology assets.
Manage and ensure the effectiveness of security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, Virtual Private Networks and network access controls.
Plan, supervise and assess the installation and maintenance of critical cabling infrastructure including data cabling (Ethernet and fibre systems) and power protection (UPS, ATS, PDU) solutions.
In conjunction with the Infrastructure and Cloud Lead, design, plan, implement and review business critical network infrastructure and ensure it continues to meet the organisation’s performance, capacity and business continuity requirements now and into the future.
Provide specialist guidance to the Technology Services management team on the design and implementation of their cyber security program, including performing security audits, performing controls tests, and providing advice on current and emerging threats.
Manage the analysis, diagnosis and resolution of complex issues impacting networking infrastructure (including cyber security incidents) and recommend / implement effective corrective solutions (and workarounds) as required within suitable time-frames.
About You:
Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting business critical, enterprise-level data communications networks including LAN, MAN, WAN and WLAN infrastructure.
Demonstrated experience supporting core technology platforms including, but not limited to, the platforms outlined in Attachment A – Technology Environment, platforms and standards.
Experience formulating structured cabling designs, developing contractor briefs and writing technical specifications.
Experience with network capacity planning, security principles and general network management best practice principles.
Ability to effectively collaborate with team members and other staff to ensure design and delivery of optimal solutions and operational outcomes.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and maintaining technology solutions to meet business requirements, with a focus on performance optimisation, lifecycle management, flexibility, scalability and business continuity.
Detailed understanding of cyber security risks as well as investigation, containment and mitigation strategies.
Excellent troubleshooting skills including the ability to rapidly assess impact, identify root cause or service restoration strategies, and implement in a high pressure environment.
