About your new branch

Located in the Lifestyle & Community Directorate, the Parks & Recreational Services branch manages, maintains, and advances the City’s diverse estate of parks, open space and natural areas.

About your new role

This role provides an opportunity to work collaboratively on projects that help build and improve the Gold Coast parks estate. You will be involved in a broad range of deliverables achieved through planning open space and recreational outcomes for the City.

You will be responsible for developing and supporting improvement projects in response to the evolving needs of the community and the need for public recreational opportunities. You will be tasked with managing a diverse portfolio of projects to manage and improve the parks estate. You will be required to engage with a broad range of stakeholders both internal and external to the branch and to prepare and present reports to committees and Council. A key priority for this role is the development, communication, and approval of the City's new Open Space Planning framework. In order to achieve this, you will work with industry stakeholders, the development industry and City officers.

Other work will include providing high quality specialist advice pertaining to City projects and managing specified aspects of work that seeks to advance the branch's critical outcomes.

You will be responsible for contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Key position responsibilities

Development, communication, and approval of the City's new Open Space Planning framework.
Reviewing and analysing the outcomes achieved through delivery of the City's Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) and providing advice for improvement.
Developing and managing improvement projects for the branch and shaping the future growth of parks on the Gold Coast.
Providing advice as a key stakeholder for projects managed by other areas of the organisation.
Responding to general enquiries and providing a high level of customer service to the public and City officers.
Engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

What you bring to your new role

A Bachelor Degree of urban planning, town/regional planning (or similar) or the equivalent knowledge is desired.
You are passionate, enthusiastic, and motivated to work in a dynamic environment.
You have highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including negotiation, consultation and presentation skills.
You have the ability to research, analyse and investigate by seeking relevant facts, sourcing appropriate information and identifying workable solutions.
You are able to work independently and within a team environment and foster good relationships with other team members.
You have the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise in a planning environment.
You are able to deliver high quality service to customers (internal and external) and understand/respond to customer expectations appropriately.
You are proficient in technology and are able to adapt to new systems and processes.
