About the Team

As part of our dedicated and high performing Environment & Planning Directorate, the Development and Building team are responsible for the delivery of Building Code of Australia requirements and Building certification, Development Assessment and Pre-lodgment and specialist advice. The department facilitates quality, compliant, sustainable development across the LGA ranging from established urban areas, through to urban renewal activity centres, future growth areas and environmental sensitive significant areas.

Salary from $75,395.80 - $87,357.41 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation

About You

You are someone who has tertiary qualifications in town planning or related discipline. You have demonstrated experience in NSW development application processing, strategic planning and other local government and building related service. In this role you will also have a sound understanding of and ability to research and apply Planning & Building legislation and case law.

As the Senior Planning Advisory Officer you will provide accurate expert technical advice and assistance to the public in respect of all general planning, development and building matters. This includes professional advice, education and guidance to Customer Service staff and all internal customers.

What are we looking for:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline.
  • NSW Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Relevant practical experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with a commitment to the provision of quality customer service.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplined team.
  • Commitment to quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce work within established timeframes and with limited supervision.
  • Sound computer literacy with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
  • An ability to clearly communicate complex legislation, EPIs and DCPs as they specifically relate to proposed developments
  • Understanding of, or experience of heritage matters and Land and Environment Court procedures.
