About you
As our Senior Policy Officer – Quality Primary Care Teams, you will call upon your existing knowledge of the Australian health system and previous experience working in heath to support the provision of safe, sustainable and high-quality general practice care by advocating for high-quality GP-led teams in the primary healthcare sector.
Excellent verbal communication and written skills are a must – with the ability to produce high quality documents and briefing papers. This role will be suited to someone who enjoys using their analytical skills to deep dive into complex subject areas.
You will also demonstrate:
A tertiary qualification in public health, public policy, business, or related discipline.
Significant experience in analyzing complex policy issues and developing policy advice, position statements and submissions ata national level.
An ability to initiate research, seek out relevant data/information and analyse findings to provide informed and evidence-based recommendations.
Significant experience in the development of health-related guidelines and resources.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Lead, Quality Primary Care Teams, you will support the team in driving outcomes related to health system efficiencies and high-quality primary care. You will help ensure that reforms to the Australian healthcare system support patient access to safe and high-quality GP-led coordinated care and avoiding duplication services.
Your responsibilities will include:
Support the Lead-Quality Primary Care Teams to deliver a portfolio of work which includes:
implementation of RACGPs policy response relating to Quality Primary Care Teams
support for Quality Primary Care Teams projects
development and revision of new policies, position statements and submissions
develop and implement agreed strategies within the Quality Primary Care Teams portfolio
imbed RACGP position relating to health system efficiencies and high-quality and safe patient care
conduct research and analysis of policy issues relevant to key issues impacting RACGP members and the profession
communicate strategic policy advice to management and media
engage stakeholders and support political engagement on policy issues affecting general practice
prepare briefing, background and discussion papers for internal RACGP stakeholders
proactively identify emerging issues that affect or will impact on patient care and general practice
Assist the Lead, Quality Primary Care Teams in supporting (including secretariat support where required) the relevant sub-committees and working groups of the RACGP Expert Committee for Funding and Health System Reform relevant to the Quality Primary Care Teams portfolio.
