Senior Project Manager / PMO Manager

Join us as Senior Project Manager / PMO Manager where you will be leading the execution of medium size to large and moderately complex projects and ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with ABB policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments in Process Automation Business Area. Reporting to Operations Manager and you will be based in Moorebank or Fortitude Valley or in Notting Hill, Australia.
Your responsibilities
- Providing strategic oversight for project management and monitoring interdependences across the portfolio, including liaising with department leads and ensuring the project management system integrates with, and delivers benefits, with all areas of PAPI
- Providing high level support and advising to the PAPI leadership team in portfolio prioritization, reporting and tracking. Accountable for developing a work plan for the project management office staff, as well as allocating and monitoring resources and achieving the outcomes of the PMO
- Assessing the risk and opportunity of identified strategies, options and actions and developing solutions which overcome problems and setbacks in achieving goals. Showing due consideration of value-added future impact on the bottom line when determining the optimal and efficient use of resources
- Working collaboratively with all teams to implement a standardized and integrated project management system. Demonstrating flexibility in thinking and adapting and managing organizational change by adjusting strategies, goals, and priorities. Facilitating the prioritization process of projects, scoping workshops, post implementation reviews and various other project related workshops. Ensuring quality assurance and controlling in the project management system
- Evaluating the project management system processes, policies, and tools to ensure it is fit for purpose and seek ways to continually improve its efficiency. Coordinating and facilitating the adoption of the project management system to research and non research areas, such as IT and capital
- Analyze project data and preparing project/program/portfolio reports and dashboards for senior management. Analyzing the portfolio of projects and make recommendations to the PAPI leadership team as required. Facilitating the pathway to impact planning, monitoring, and reporting process for projects
- Leading the project team, establishing the project execution approach, and overseeing project hand over, execution planning, and monitoring and controlling activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals
- Defining jointly with project controls team, all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule, and risk management plans
- Ensuring that the project follows execution best practices and ABB policies
- Effectively monitors and controls project progress and efficient resource utilization. Monitoring and controlling project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow
- Identifying qualifies, quantifies and managing project risks, and ensuring that all opportunities are identified and pursued. Capturing, analyzing, and sharing lessons learned throughout the project. Ensuring that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Driving the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer
- Ensuring that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with ABB policies and contractual agreements
- Coordinates with Supply Chain Management, and successfully procures all required services, materials, and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers. Supporting Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes
- Acting as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders
- Tertiary qualifications, or equivalent experience, in ECIS or a related field
- 7-10 years’ experience in large multi facet electrical/control system projects
- Qualifications and/or experience in Microsoft Project Online, MS Project scheduling and dashboard reporting such as Power BI or similar
- High level written and oral communication skills including negotiation, presentation (both written and oral) skills and the ability to synthesize and communicate complex data and information
- Demonstrated experience in management of scope, cost, schedules, and vendors/subcontractors in varied contract arrangements
- Strong Contractual knowledge and project management qualification/Certification (Prince / PMBOK, PMP)
- Experience in implementing project management systems, including associated elements of change management
- Experience managing a Project Management Office and an ability to effectively prioritize workloads and manage competing deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a team, and to deliver high quality outputs in a timely manner
- Ability to effectively influence and communicate with all levels of management and project stakeholders
- Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities and excellent time management, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and robust working relationships with senior management, scientific and operational staff
- Demonstrated experience in management of scope, cost, schedules and vendors/subcontractors in varied contract arrangements and Strong Contractual knowledge
- Project Management Qualification/Certification (Prince / PMBOK, PMP)
- Experience in implementing project management systems, including associated elements of change management
- Experience managing a Project Management Office
