The role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Project Manager is accountable for project managing the operational development, commissioning and ramp up of the new Western Plains Correctional Centre. The role will be responsible for managing a range of projects and deliverables over their full lifecycle, using project management methodology within the Government's procurement environment.
The role will drive good governance arrangements to manage risk and ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and to quality standards that deliver a smooth transition into operation. They will also work in partnership with the department's Community Safety Building Authority (CSBA), who provide end-to-end project management on infrastructure projects including the delivery of Victoria's new prisons.
Your skills and experience
To thrive in this role, you will possess strong project management skills and an ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment along with demonstrated expertise in delivering large scale service development programs and a high level understanding of project management methodology. You will also have experience in coordinating teams, providing internal consultancy to managers and provision of authoritative advice on complex issues.
A relevant tertiary qualification in planning and project management is desirable, and a qualification in law, business or criminal justice is highly desirable.
