About the team
The Major Projects Facilitation Agency (MPFA) is based within the department and actively and directly supports a wide range of major project proponents through their Australian Government approvals pathways. The MPFA provides tailored facilitation, coordination and information services to major project proponents, and cooperates with Australian Government agencies, and state and territory governments to ensure that project proponents understand all their approval requirements.
The MPFA also administer the Major Project Status initiative, which is the Australian Government’s recognition of the strategic significance of a development to Australia.

Experience in a regulatory environment and data collection and analysis would be highly desirable, but not required.
Candidates applying for EL1 roles must also be able to demonstrate:
experience in leading a team to deliver on strategic priorities
demonstrated experience in either developing major projects or assessing regulatory approvals for major projects
sound commercial acumen, including the ability to analyse financial statements and undertake economic and financial evaluation of projects; and
knowledge of legislation and regulatory approvals processes.

What you will do
The Major Project Facilitation Agency is looking for a variety of APS Level 6 and Executive Level 1 facilitation staff to deliver high quality facilitation services to major project proponents.
APS6 Senior Project Officer duties in this role include, but are not limited to:
Assess the eligibility of projects to apply for Major Project Status (MPS).
Provide facilitation services to projects with MPS.
Monitor and review the progress of MPS projects through their regulatory approvals journey.
Build and maintain cooperative relationships with major project proponents, regulators, other Australian Government agencies and state and territory facilitation agencies.
Prepare correspondence and briefing material to a high standard.
Influence and negotiate with other government portfolios.
Records and data management.
Contribute to work on complex regulatory issues, including issues identification, analysis and proactive problem solving with regulators and MPS proponents.
Work closely with executive level team members to influence the strategic direction of the team's work.
EL1 Assistant Manager duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring for junior staff.
Be pivotal in supporting the Manager and Executive to deliver outcomes.
Contributing to shape strategic thinking and direction for the team.
Assess the eligibility of projects to apply for Major Project Status (MPS).
Facilitate regulatory approvals (approvals identification, journey mapping, and proactive problem solving) for MPS projects.
Provide expert advice internally and externally to the organization.
Build and maintain cooperative stakeholder relationships with major project proponents, regulators, other Australian Government agencies and state and territory facilitation agencies.
Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes, and facilitate cooperation.
Generate new ideas approaches and strategies. Implement change and business improvement strategies in the workplace.
Be responsible for the achievement of own and team outcomes, monitor team progress and follow through to deliver quality and timely outcomes.
Oversee records and data management for the team.
Represent and explain the views of the agency at cross-agency meetings and other forums.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
