About the Role
The purpose of the role is to provide support to the Deafness and Mental Health Statewide Consultation Liaison Service with linguistic and cultural expertise in the development of appropriate resources, translation and training materials and to provide Auslan interpreting services for clinical and non-clinical activities within and on behalf of the team. This includes:
- Facilitating an inclusive service environment and engagement with and equity of access to evidence-based Mental Health care for Deaf consumers
- Educating staff from the perspective of lived experience of Deaf culture
- Providing high quality advice, management and administration of programs and service delivery including project work and work policy development
- Liaison and communication with other government and non-government services and community organisations, and representing the service at meetings, conferences and seminars
- Undertaking complex, detailed and specific tasks in major areas of service operations, including co-ordination of programs
- Working independently and making decisions to enhance service delivery
- Developing, monitoring and implementing initiatives, guidelines, procedures, training and staff development
- Monitoring resources and reviewing effectiveness of operations
