About the service
Barwon Health’s Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS), provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.
About you
Formal professionally recognised qualifications in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
Completion of or currently progressing towards a Master’s level qualification in advanced nursing practice, education, leadership or management
Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment (or commitment to complete this within first year)
Demonstrated expertise (knowledge, skills and attitude domains) in contemporary psychiatric nursing and mental health practice
Minimum of 5 years full time experience in mental health
Strong and effective leadership, education and change management skills
Sophisticated understanding of:
Current and future mental health care initiatives
Contemporary evidence-based mental health nursing practice
Potential and actual changes to professional workforce directions and,
Industrial relationships that enable effective contribution to, and collaborative delivery of, these workforce directions
About the role
As the successful applicant, you will provide Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Leadership across MHDAS and be responsible for the coordination of professional development, education and training programs within the service. Other duties of your role include but are not limited to;
Supporting excellence in the achievement and maintenance of mental health nursing standards in clinical practice
Supporting and promoting clinical education to advance the capabilities of the nursing and interprofessional workforce
Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, both within and external to MHDAS
Supporting the Director of Nursing (Mental Health) with professional governance and mental health nursing workforce development
