About the Mental Health Program
Monash Health Mental Health Services provides a range of community, bed-based and specialist services covering the Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash LGAs – a population of nearly one million. It has an operational budget of $130 million and employs approximately 820 EFT, representing over 1000 staff.
The Program has a number of clinical units including three adult units (Casey, Dandenong and Clayton), an Early in Life Mental Health Service (comprising infant, child, and adolescent and youth services), Psychology Specialist Services (PsySS), Drug & Alcohol service, Victorian Dual Disability Service, the Wellness Recovery Centre (an eating disorder program) and Gender Dysphoria Clinic. Southern Synergy supports the Mental Health Programs with specialist research innovations. The program has Five PARCS (Preventions and Recovery Care Services) which includes a specialist Women’s only PARCs, an Extended Care PARCs and Youth PARCS. The clinical service is supported by an aligned operational structure to enable the provision of high quality service through the creation of clinical-operational partnerships to support staff, patients, carers and their families, and a strong professional structure that supports the governance of the health professional workforce.
About the role
Monash Health psychologists have a tremendous range and depth of experience in servicing a complex patient/client population. Monash Health Grade 3 Psychologists are generally considered to be senior psychologists and have well-developed professional supervision skills. Note - this role is also open to Grade 2 psychologists and there are 2 attached PDs depending on experience and grade. Generally, Grade 3 Psychology staff fulfil three main job duties. They are expected to:
Provide evidence based, best practice clinical services to patients/clients within their organisational unit. These clinical services are considered to require advanced knowledge and skills and effectively address the needs of patients/clients with chronic and/or complex presenting issues. They are also expected to provide secondary consultation to the unit team and a broad range of relevant stakeholders.
Provide psychology supervision to psychology staff/students and registrars within their cluster or across clusters within Monash Health
Provide professional development activities, such as training and development program activities, implementing research or pilot projects associated with service development, including data collection and analysis and quality improvement activities within their work unit and for the profession of psychology across Monash Health.
Purpose
The Senior Psychologist will provide evidence-based, trauma-informed best practice and interventions for women in SPARCS who are experiencing a diverse range of mental health issues. This role will collaboratively work with women to empower them in the making choices for their own recovery. This role will support the multidisciplinary team with a trauma informed approach that is tailored to the needs of the individuals and their families. The Senior Psychologist will also provide secondary consultation to the team and other relevant stakeholders regarding the mental health issues and psychological needs of women in the SPARCS.

Provide psychological support with a focus on recovery to the consumers with a focus on improving their health and quality of life.
Promote a trauma informed approach that creates safety, connection and empowers the consumers in their recovery.
Support the SPARCS staff to provide an environment that is trauma-informed and collaborative and transparent in its support of consumers.
Commit to developing and maintaining an evidence-based, best practice psychological knowledge and skill set
Adhere to professional guidelines/codes, organisational policies/procedures and legislative requirements
Measure the effectiveness of service delivery
Ensure referring agents are satisfied with the quality, timeliness and relevance of psychological services provided
Participate in professional supervision/governance and professional development activities
Support and participate in a range of professional development activities, including initiating and contributing to staff training and development activities, quality improvement activities, and research and evaluation
Provide mentoring to provisional psychologists including students
Actively participate in reaching operational business unit Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and participate in department meetings and other meetings when requested or required
Work closely and cooperatively with all Monash Health colleagues and staff
