Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) puts 200 years of experience to work for midsized, globally oriented companies by delivering actionable insights and ideas, comprehensive banking solutions and a truly global network. We provide high-quality financial advice, helping businesses prosper and grow in domestic markets, as well as internationally. In Australia, CCB serves corporate clients that generate revenue between $75mil and $1.25bil that value Citi’s leading global network, products and capabilities.
This is a senior leadership role, whereby the successful application will lead the coverage and origination efforts of mid to large corporates across NSW, QLD and the ACT. In addition the successful applicant will also join the Citi Commercial Bank Australia (CCB) country leadership team.
We are seeking someone with proven leadership of people and teams, who possess relationship building expertise and an ability to articulate, bring alignment, communicate and execute on a clear strategy and plan for market leadership and growth. It requires collaboration and close partnership with senior leadership within CCB as well as key partners in Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory (BCMA), Treasury and Trade Solutions, financial markets and other Citi businesses.
The successful applicant should be acknowledged by the market, clients as a trusted partner and seen to be making high impact positive changes in our value proposition and market positioning.
Responsibilities include:
Strategy:
Identify market opportunity, develop and execute strategy to capture it.
Optimize resource allocation aligned with global and regional strategies.
Business Development & Sales Management:
Drive innovation including development and commercialization of value added solutions in partnership with products specialists and subject matter experts.
Drive industry presence and leadership both externally and internally.
Establish and lead robust sales management processes for pipeline management, new client acquisition, industry and client share of wallet penetration.
Execution of strategic initiatives launched centrally at all levels (local, regional and global)
Identifying and onboarding new to bank clients that would benefit from CCB’s global footprint and product capabilities.
Working with product specialists and subject matter experts across the bank to structure customised solutions that meet clients’ unique needs.
Keeping connected with influencers, industry associations, thought leaders and senior business contacts to expand industry knowledge and deepen CCB’s relationship with these partners.
Risk Management:
Responsible for the client credit relationship of the client including coordinating and supervising the entire end to end process whilst ensuring the proper application of internal policies and processes.
Lead portfolio reviews, understand emerging trends and impact to portfolio, work with in business risk and independent risk to develop risk mitigation strategies.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Talent:
Leading a team of Relationship Managers who are responsible for actively calling on prospects and clients to establish and deepen relationships and proactively owning, responding to and anticipating future needs, challenges or risks, in addition to identifying and pursuing new clients aligned with CCB’s value proposition.
Attracting, retaining and motivating, along with responsibility for managing a budget and meeting team sales goals.
Build industry expertise and skills within the Industry team and ensure deep understanding of relevant products and solutions.
Generously devoting time to mentoring and developing junior talent on how to provide sound solutions for clients.
Skills and experiences required:
10+ years of commercial/corporate banking experience across diversified industries
In-depth knowledge of all aspects of corporate / commercial banking including strong credit knowledge and an ability to quickly learn new products and services
Possesses sound judgment and is creative in providing credit/deposit solutions to bank clients
Significant experience in complex capital structures and cross border transactions
Strong financial and analytic skills, and the resilience to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights.
Ability to work effectively in team setting
Able to effectively interact with a variety of internal and external constituencies
Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams through complex change; a reputation for retaining, attracting and developing talent
Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills
Must be able to express a sound opinion, able to agreeably present another viewpoint
Must have a sharp business development focus and demonstrate innovative approaches
Ability to work under pressure while making sound decisions
Highly focused, able to rapidly identify key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities
Ability to coordinate multi-functional teams to provide an exceptional client experience.
Qualifications:
University degree or higher (MA or MBA beneficial).
Previous coursework or experience in Finance, Accounting, and Economics.
