About This Opportunity

We are seeking a diligent and organised Senior Research Administration Officer to join our world-leading Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences to oversee and support research management within the School of Pharmacy.

As the Senior Research Administration Officer, you will be responsible for providing high-level research administrative support and information to the School of Pharmacy, including the Head of School, the Director of Research, the School Manager, other members of the school leadership team that engage with the research function and academic staff within the school, in order to enhance the school’s research activity, culture and performance.

This position is located at The Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE) in Woolloongabba, UQ’s premier pharmacy and pharmaceutical science research precinct.

Key responsibilities required to fulfil the role include, but are not limited to:

Act as a point of contact and source of advice on all aspects of research administration.

Support research administration across the research lifecycle.

Coordinate internal and external research funding schemes.

Identify and source funding opportunities and disseminate that information to academic staff and HDR students.

Coordinate and assist with development of research funding applications, that also includes assisting academic staff with research grants/contract budget preparation.

Pre-award administration of research funding applications.

Liaise with key sections of the University such as Faculty and UQ Research Offices, Human Resources, Finance and Business Services and School financial managers concerning research grant management.

Post-award administration of successful research funding applications.

Undertake detailed review of unsuccessful applications with a view to performance improvement.

Provide secretarial and administrative support to the School Research Committees.

Maintain research-related databases, records and electronic documentation and ensure completeness and accuracy of research data on central UQ databases.

Produce regular research performance reports and provide data information as required.

Organise and coordinate research seminars, workshops and research days.

Support the administration of the School's Summer and Winter Research Scholarships.

Assist with the maintenance of research web pages and ensure that academic staff research profiles are visible and current.

Assist in the promotion of research activity on websites and events.

Establish strong and effective networks across UQ to develop consistent approaches to research administration.

About You

As a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Research Administration Officer, you will possess:

A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

Experience in research administration with a sound knowledge of research policies and procedures or the demonstrated capacity to rapidly gain that knowledge.

Advanced skills in the use of computer applications for word-processing, data storage and retrieval, and spreadsheets.

Experience with using University reporting systems such as Business Objects and granting body systems such as RMS and Sapphire.

Experience in the maintenance of web pages.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Demonstrated ability to produce research reports and minutes with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues internal and external to the University including professional staff, academic staff and health professionals engaged in research.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team, or independently as necessary, and exercise judgement and initiative.

Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise competing tasks to meet deadlines.

Knowledge of research administration would be considered an advantage.

What We Can Offer

This is a part-time (0.6FTE), continuing position commencing 2 May 2023 at HEW Level 6.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $84,871 - $91,158 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range of $100,262 - $106,654 per annum.

The following flexible employment options may be available for this role: variable start or finish times; compressed hours; purchased leave; flex-time.
