Research Focused Academic Level C/D - $128,920 – $165,239 pa
Plus 17% superannuation and 4-6 weeks annual leave
May be based in Brisbane, Darwin, Alice Springs or Sydney

Provide overarching research management and program coordination of the Centre for Research Excellence for Birthing on Country.

About the Position
In this position you will provide overarching research management and program coordination of the NHMRC-funded Centre for Research Excellence for Birthing on Country.

'Birthing on Country' is a metaphor for the best start in life for First Nations families. Since 2010, Australian
Maternity policy has recommended exemplar ‘Birthing on Country Services' be established in geographically diverse areas to improve First Nations health and provide a blueprint for scaling-up. Birthing on Country Services are complex, evidence-based interventions that include a redesigned maternity service prioritising a First Nations workforce and governance; 24/7 continuity of midwifery carer; holistic support; programs that strengthen cultural identify and connection; and integrated care across primary and tertiary services. Our team work with partner organisations in multiple settings to facilitate health service redesign, to support the workforce, to strengthen families and to embed community governance, engagement and control.

About You

To be successful, you will require:
A PhD in a health or related field and research project management experience
High level organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and balance competing tasks
Sound knowledge of First Nations health, the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation Sector, and culturally competent maternity care for First Nations people
Proven experience working effectively with First Nations people and communities and demonstrates a deep understanding of cultural safety
Demonstrated understanding of strategies that increase capacity building of the First Nations health and research workforce
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience in writing interim project reports, ethics and governance applications and reports, and funding applications, conference papers and articles for submission to peer reviewed journals

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Research Focused Academic Level C/D. The base salary will be in the range of $128,920 - $165,239 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $150,836 - $193,329 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
