Where you will be working:
The position of Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) offers a unique, highly sought-after mix of neonatal experience and paediatric acute, ambulatory, and outpatient experience. The SRMO will provide paediatric patient care in the following settings: ambulatory and outpatients, neonatal special care, and paediatric acute care. The SRMO will provide orientation, support and training of medical students. They will facilitate departmental meetings such as the Neonatal, Perinatal, and Paediatric Morbidity and Mortality meetings. The successful applicant would be expected to work in the Paediatric Acute Review Clinic (PARC) at Gosford Hospital, Special Care Nursery at Gosford Hospital, Wyong Paediatric Unit (WPU) at Wyong Hospital, and Emergency Department at Wyong Hospital.
The Unaccredited Trainee is a clinical position on the Paediatric Trainee Roster, working as one of eight Paediatric Trainees each term. The position will contribute to continuity of care, orientation and training of new JMOs (RMOs and SRMOs), and will help with medical student and JMO teaching. The successful applicant would be expected to work in the Paediatric Inpatient Unit, Special Care Nursery, and Emergency Department at Gosford Hospital.
Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and trauma centre for the Central Coast, with over 500 inpatient beds and 24/7 access to the emergency department and operating theatres. A recent $368 million dollar redevelopment delivered a new emergency department, ICU, nuclear medicine facility, special care nursery and expanded medical imaging services.
Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital with over 300 beds providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern region of the Central Coast. A recent $200 million expansion delivered a new emergency department, ICU, paediatric unit, inpatient wards, theatres and expanded medical imaging services.
In conjunction with the University of Newcastle, CCLHD has recently opened the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute on the Gosford Hospital campus, providing additional opportunities in training and research.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Aus/NZ Graduates/Competent Authority Pathway Candidates: Completion of 3 post graduate years or more as a medical officer in an acute hospital setting and having practiced Paediatric Medicine in an acute hospital setting for a minimum of 3 months out of the past 12 months or equivalent.
- Standard Pathway Candidates: Completion of a minimum of 4 postgraduate years in an acute hospital setting and practiced clinical medicine in an acute hospital setting for a minimum of 12 months in the past two years with a minimum of 6 months Paediatric Medicine experience in an Australian Hospital or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment, utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.
- Demonstrated time management and problem-solving skills, and evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.
