Synopsis:
Senior Safety Advisor
Permanent Full Time
Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
$89,152 - $92,863 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 5) + Superannuation
Location – Rockhampton
Your new role
Are you passionate about driving continuous improvement initiatives in safety? This position will help drive safety system compliance throughout Council while providing expert advice to a large and diverse workforce. You will have a comprehensive knowledge of safety management systems with relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience in workplace health and safety functions.
This position offers the opportunity to utilise your skills and experience whilst contributing to keeping the workforce safe and ensuring they go home to their family each night. You will oversee a diverse portfolio while undertaking duties including but not limited to conducting worksite inspections, hazard identification, incident investigation, document development and implementation of safety programs.

Ability to provide specialist advice and assistance in all areas of Workplace Health and Safety
A positive team player with the ability to develop quality and effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
Ability to provide project support in implementing Council’s Health and Safety Strategy
Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining high level attention to detail
Proven time management skills with experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to interpret and analyse information and problem solve to identify suitable solutions

Application Criteria
Cert IV in WHS and / or significant experience within workplace health and safety functions.
High level of knowledge pertaining to Workplace Health and Safety, relevant legalisation and best practices.
Ability to provide project support through the development of WHS documentation and training packages, implementation of safety programs and providing written reports and recommendations on safety matters with a high level attention to detail.
Interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
