About Us:
Sharp & Howells Pty Ltd was established in 1922 and is NATA Accredited testing laboratory No.61 (One of the oldest privately owned laboratories in Australia).
We are a totally independent chemical laboratory and all work is conducted by qualified, experienced scientific staff.
The laboratory provides testing, analysis and consulting services to industry, householders and regulatory bodies alike including for use in legal proceedings.
John Franceschini is the sole director and has been with S&H for 40 years in a management and scientific capacity.
The Role:
Exciting analytical role with a large variety of self-managed tasks available, within a team environment. Reporting directly to the laboratory manager you will be responsible for:
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Laboratory testing of a range of materials and samples.
- Maintain calibration records, analytical results, and test reports.
- Maintain consumables, reagents, standard stock levels and monitor shelf lives.
- Liaise with customers and contractors about testing schedules, requirements and results, handling the process from initial query including quoting and creation of work orders through to reporting of results.
- Assist with audits and reviews of laboratory test methods and procedures.
- Conduct field sampling and testing when required.
- Client and Business Development.
- Quality Control in the laboratory.
Skills, Attributes & Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Science with Chemistry or related major (5+ Years Minimum experience in a laboratory environment).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of QA/QC principles and practices within a NATA accredited laboratory.
- Experience with ISO 17025 requirements
- Competent using Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in the use of the following environmental laboratory instrumentation (highly regarded):
- GC/MS
- ICP-OES
- SEM-EDS
- FTIR
- General Wet Chemistry
