We have over 40 years’ experience in delivering large-scale environmental and social impact assessments across the Asia-Pacific region. Our clients in the resources, energy, renewables, infrastructure, and development sectors, engage us as trusted advisors to manage their environmental and social risks and to deliver high quality solutions for critical projects across Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Asia Pacific.
About the role
You’ll join a collaborative and professional team that works together with our offices across the Asia-Pacific region, and you’ll be supported by our Principals to manage and deliver projects for our clients.
You’ll provide advice and support to clients on social performance aspects across the full project life cycle and will contribute/manage the project delivery of social impact technical studies and assessments, reports, proposals, and correspondence.
More specifically, you will:
- Prepare social baseline studies including demographics, infrastructure, livelihoods, and local customs
- Identify key stakeholders; prepare consultation and stakeholder engagement materials, conduct key informant interviews, focus groups, and facilitate public consultation meetings
- Identify, analyse, and assess social impacts in terms of significance, scale, and importance
- Using quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, evaluate potential cumulative and indirect impacts of planned change in communities
- Develop strategies to mitigate negative impacts and enhance positive ones
- Document, report, and monitor engagement outcomes encompassing social, economic, and cultural heritage matters
The role will provide you the opportunity to contribute and lead social change projects, collaborate and learn from our Principal Social Consultants, and travel and work with communities and Indigenous people in the South Pacific.
About you
For success in the role, you’ll need:
- Tertiary qualifications in a social science discipline
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in supporting/delivering social impact assessments, preferably within a consulting context
- Experience in preparing social baseline studies
- Competence in employing quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and complex data analysis and evaluation
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and consultation
- Experience in report writing for social impact assessments and technical studies along with engagement outcomes encompassing social, economic, and cultural heritage matters
