Civil Litigation - Senior Solicitor
About:
A high-growth firm in Melbourne is looking to establish a branch in Canberra, ACT and seeks the experience and commercial acumen of a Senior Solicitor to assist the principal in their increased work-load
You’ll be working predominantly at the Melbourne office, but be expected to travel to the Canberra Office once a month. Travel and accomodation will be covered by the firm
This role will is part-time (2-3) days, ideal for sole practitioners or established lawyers looking for additional work
Conditions for Success:
Minimum 6 Years PQE practising as an Australian Solicitor with experience in in Civil Litigation
Excellent communication skills - Confident approach and ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels and relevant third parties
Proficiency using SMOKEBALL Legal Software - Optional
Attention to detail - adept analysis of legal matters, research & drafting skills
Experience in Business Development & readily ability to manage client expectations
Motivated to provide excellent client service
Ability to prioritise and manage many files and project deadlines simultaneously.
Adept commercial acumen and disposition - proactive, innovative and outcome-focused approach
Willing to occasionally travel interstate to help build the practice (travel costs paid for)
Able to work autonomously, and in a team where necessary.
Your Responsibilities:
Liaise with clients, solicitors and barristers, along with Melbourne office staff to help grow the Canberra branch.
Establish and maintain client relationships and expectations through regular and effective communication.
Prepare court documents, correspondence, and briefs to barristers
Arrange meetings and manage your case files with attention to detail
Handle matters from start to finish autonomously
Provide tailored advice to clients to ensure an optimal outcome.
Attend networking events to represent the new branch
Liaising with Psychological counsellors in the team
