Senior Spatial Technician x 5

Employment Type: 2 Permanent and 3 Temporary roles
Location(s): Bathurst (remote work available by negotiation). There will be a requirement for work to be completed in the Bathurst office as requested by Supervisor as well as a mandatory 1 day per month.

As a Senior Spatial Technician, you will apply specialist spatial knowledge and skills to undertake a range of activities related to the digital cadastral supply chain, imagery and remote sensing capture and processing, Geocoded Addressing, Transport, Features of Interest and Administrative Boundaries datasets. These roles will be based in the Environmental Spatial Programs team which captures and maintains the Imagery, Elevation and Water data for NSW.

Your day-to-day

Responsibilities will include:
  • Capture, process, and maintain spatial data in a complex digital environment by applying expert spatial knowledge of GIS and related applications ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards
  • Work as part of a team to complete program requirements in a timely, efficient and effective manner to support the achievement of planned business outcomes
  • Provide specialist technical advice to customers, stakeholders, contractors and staff and actively participate in industry and agency working groups to assist in achieving business objectives.
  • Identify options for system improvements, test new operational procedures and maintain process documentation, specifications, quality standards, records and security of information to support.
  • Respond to changes in the work environment, advances in technology, new industry standards and the needs of Spatial Service' customers and stakeholders to ensure that service standards are met
  • Provide guidance, information and advice to the work team to support the development of internal capabilities and technical competence
Every Spatial Operations team will contribute to the Spatial Digital Twin and innovation solutions. Helping to direct the development of future digital solutions often through the creation of 3D modelling

Your experience

Spatial Services are seeking people with a passion for GIS, digital data and innovation, technology and cartography. To be successful at Spatial Services you will have:
  • Demonstrated experience and suitability in relevant industry fields such as:
- GIS

- Local council or state property and development

- Surveying and land development

- Spatial analysis

- Remote sensing and processing
  • Tertiary qualifications are preferred but not essential, such as TAFE Certificate IV in Spatial Information Services, ICT / Database Management or similar
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of GIS software for capture, interrogation and manipulation of spatial data
  • A strong customer focus with developed planning, organisation, communication, interpersonal, research, analysis, and problem-solving skills
Spatial Services is continuing to modernise our spatial products by advancing our workflows and abilities to develop 3D modelling of our existing foundational datasets, as well as developing new data, products and services. Experience or knowledge of 3D data is a desirable attribute for candidates but not essential.

Departmental grade 5/6, with the base salary for this role starting at $89,707 plus superannuation.
