About the role:
Reporting to the Specialist Engineering Manager in Engineering and Technical Support, this role will provide advice to wider Sydney Water as the Subject Matter Expert in Structural Engineering
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice for structural engineering to wider Sydney Water teams
Reviewing of complex designs for new high-risk assets and rehabilitation of critical, existing assets
Preparation and management of standards, specifications and guidelines related to Sydney Water’s assets
Maintaining regular contact with other structural SMEs in related industries for sharing and advancement of skills and knowledge
Working closely with other structural, civil, geotechnical and materials engineers within the team on the beyond
About you
Degree in structural or civil engineering
Minimum 8 years relevant experience in structural design
Relevant industry experience in water and wastewater sector is preferred
Knowledge and experience in the design of water retaining structures, related industrial structures and rehabilitation of existing assets is preferred
Knowledge and experience in the assessment of remaining service life of water retaining structures
CPEng and NER (Structures) of Institution of Engineers Australia or equivalent where reciprocal arrangement exists with IEAust or in the process of achieving it
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to support inter-disciplinary and asset owner, production of specialist reports.
A desire to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a senior technical support and subject matter expert capacity
