- Assist the Manager to lead and coordinate taxation services to ensure the provision of accurate, reliable, flexible, and efficient taxation processes, related governance and systems that anticipate and meet customer needs, and that are compliant with regulatory and government requirements.
- Provide complete and well thought out advice on complex taxation matters as well as general business requirements.
- Identify, propose, and implement process improvements for taxation related services.
- Review and monitor the international presence of CSIRO and ensure all appropriate tax advice is in place and any compliance requirements are being met.
- Mentor team members as required.
- Demonstrated broad Australian tax technical knowledge including corporate income tax, employment taxes, and indirect taxes. Experience and/or understanding of international taxes and tax impacts of operating in foreign jurisdictions.
- Proven ability to prioritise and contribute effectively to resolving escalated issues relating to taxation while ensuring stakeholder needs are being met.
- Demonstrated experience providing taxation advice to internal and external stakeholders that is clear, concise, and tailored to suit the audience.
- Ability to maintain personal/professional development to meet the changing demands of the role, participate in appropriate training and encourage/support staff in their development.
- Superior communication, interpersonal and influencing skills and successful track record in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships (externally and internally) at peer and executive as well as team level.
- Demonstrated ability to apply financial policies, plan, prioritise and manage accounting and tax activities, and shape and implement financial process and system improvements.
- Demonstrated experience in working proactively, prioritising goals and being principally accountable for delivering value-add team financial results and balancing competing priorities.
- Completion or working towards completion of CPA, CA, or equivalent relevant work experience.
