Queensland Rail currently has a permanent full-time opportunity for a Senior Traction Construction Engineer to join our Traction Power Operational Engineering team.
This role will provide technical support and safety advice to all stakeholders in the construction, operation and maintenance of HV traction systems especially during the construction phase.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Inspect, test and commission Traction system alterations and installations works.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the Manager by investigating, reporting, auditing and documenting work practice and process in accordance with quality principles.
- Oversee the construction and commissioning of traction projects and renewals by providing technical support to field staff, developing programs, completing operational documentation and quality assurance
- Communicate with staff, management and customers regarding technical issues and support for day to day construction activities, and their effect on operational and service provision activities.
- Report regularly on the construction program of the traction system to ensure all construction resource impacts are identified and recommend action to be taken to resolve issues.
- Review and audit construction techniques, technological developments, innovations and document requirements to ensure provision of an effective quality product.
- Provide technical and on-call support for the reliable operation of the traction network, including electrical safety advice to internal and external works.
We are seeking interest from people who have:
- Extensive knowledge of traction systems and equipment and the construction and testing standards.
- Knowledge of budgeting, estimating and programming of Traction Construction activities.
- Strong knowledge of traction safe working principles, practices and procedures, including testing, commissioning practices and procedures and traction alteration design.
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
Based in Brisbane’s CBD this is a Monday to Friday role. Annual base salary range of $132,956 - $142,279 + superannuation + penalties/overtime.
