The opportunity
We are currently looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our Accident & Health team. As a Senior Underwriter at QBE, you will be part of a successful and dynamic team spread across Australia, with the opportunity to grow and develop your insurance and underwriting career.
You will be responsible for running a profitable Accident & Health portfolio, providing insights and expertise to your customers including underwriting and maintaining a renewal portfolio and new business as well as responding to quotes.
This strategic role will see you:
Underwrite Accident & Health risks, (renewals and quotes), and adhere to underwriting guidelines and standards
Respond to customer queries and ensure tasks are managed in accordance with QBE and regulator performance standards
Work effectively with the underwriting team and other internal stakeholders from Product, Claims, Sales and Relationship teams
Maintain and build customer and partner relationships and provide insights into your portfolio
Actively manage portfolios and strengthen relationships with all stakeholders to deliver business retention, growth and profitability targets
Actively increase and share knowledge of QBE capability, risk appetite and products as well as brokers’ operations to strengthen our delivery of innovative solutions.
Monitor and communicate activity within your portfolio, brokers and competitors and report on opportunities and risks to improve results.
Contribute to the development, mentoring and managing of Underwriters, Trainees and Assistant Underwriters
Your story so far
To be successful in this role you will have previous underwriting experience, with a working knowledge of Accident and Health. You will also have the following:
Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience
High-level attention to detail and accuracy
Strong established customer / broker relationships
Building relationships, communicating, negotiating and influencing at a senior level within the insurance industry
Extensive knowledge of relevant market conditions
Working knowledge of risk management, portfolio management and underwriting
