Overview

Bring your passion for creating good user experiences on the web to a team that builds GIS apps for fieldwork. This is a great opportunity to design and develop the next-generation of web apps that are delivered as part of a full service product that includes both web and native app elements. If you were here in the last few months, some of the things you would have done are:

Led design reviews of new functionality that has elements that cover both the web app and native app of a product
Reviewed code of new functionality to existing web app to ensure it is fit for purpose
Explored Esri’s new Calcite Design System release that allows you to create beautiful, easy to use, cohesive experiences across apps with minimal effort, creating a plan for integration into our web products
Participated in field testing of the apps you and your teammates created to experience first hand the features as would be used by customers
Responsibilities
Lead a feature project sub-team that is assigned to create new or enhance existing features in our apps
Lead the evolution and improvement of the UX/UI of existing suite of web apps, and develop UX/UI of new web apps
Ensure components that you and others create and use, meet accessibility, internationalization, and localization requirements
Work closely with software developers and product engineers in a highly interactive and creative environment
Interact with users to identify and articulate their needs
Research and apply state-of-the-art UX practices
Solve and articulate complex problems with application design, development, and user experiences
Requirements
5+ years of commercial software development experience
Excellent JavaScript/HTML/CSS skills and good sense for software architecture
Experience with the following: TypeScript, ES6, Ember, Angular, React
Strong passion for detailed, innovative, and empathic design, combined with well-rounded design skills (interaction, UI, visual, and motion design)
Experience with accessibility, internationalization, and localization requirements in web app development
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to clearly articulate the reasons behind design decisions and code implementation, and to provide guidance to other developers you are working with
Ability to work closely with the team to build quality software in a constantly evolving environment
Effective time management and organizational skills
Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field, depending on position level (master’s preferred)
Existing work authorization for Australia
Recommended Qualifications
Experience with Python and Blazor
Experience with CSS post-processing
Familiarity with GIS applications and technologies
