Job description

Overview: As a Service Technician specialising in blinds and awnings, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of blinds and awnings for residential and commercial properties. Your role will involve a combination of technical expertise, customer service, and problem-solving skills to meet client needs and uphold quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation: Safely and accurately install blinds and awnings according to specifications provided by manufacturers and client preferences. Ensure proper fitting and alignment for optimal functionality and aesthetics.

2. Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on installed blinds and awnings to identify any issues or potential problems. Perform necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure they are in working condition and extend their lifespan.

3. Repair: Respond promptly to service calls and inquiries from clients regarding malfunctioning or damaged blinds and awnings. Diagnose problems, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to restore functionality.

4. Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally and courteously with clients to understand their requirements, address concerns, and provide expert advice on maintenance and usage. Educate customers on proper care and operation of blinds and awnings to promote satisfaction and longevity.

5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service activities, including installations, repairs, inspections, and parts used. Complete service reports, work orders, and other documentation as required for internal tracking and client billing purposes.

6. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work meets quality standards and complies with relevant safety regulations and industry guidelines. Uphold the reputation of the company by delivering superior service and craftsmanship on every job.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the window treatment industry or related field.

- Proficiency in the installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of blinds and awnings, including but not limited to vertical blinds, roller shades, venetian blinds, retractable awnings, and motorised systems.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions independently.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach to service delivery.

- Attention to detail and accuracy in performing measurements, installations, and documentation.

- Physical stamina and agility to handle the demands of lifting, climbing, and working in various indoor and outdoor environments.

- Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required for travel to client locations.

Additional Requirements:

- Willingness to undergo training and stay updated on new products, techniques, and industry trends.

- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate client schedules and service calls.

- Commitment to safety protocols and adherence to company policies and procedures.
