Job description

The Services Technology Leader (STL) is the manufacturing engineering focal responsible for leading, sustaining, and advancing a specific manufacturing process as it pertains to the MRO (Services) network. This STL in Chemical Cleaning includes oversight of the following Special Processes: Chemical cleaning, stripping, etching, plating, and ultrasonic cleaning. The Services Technology Leader is the resident expert for a specific manufacturing process and is the recognized focal providing continuity and growth for both business and technical challenges to meet the needs of the Services business.

Responsibilities:

  • Guiding and standardizing capital expenditures

  • Technical expert for chemical cleaning, stripping, etching, plating, and ultrasonic cleaning, providing shop support to drive business improvements (delivery, quality, safety, cost, scrap and rework reduction, etc.)

  • Contribute to and sign-off Standard Practice Manual (SPM) updates and improvements

  • Synergize and leverage New Make best practices

  • Coordinate with global MRO site-level Special Process owners to leverage best practices, communicate lessons learned, and drive process improvements to achieve yield entitlement and best in class cost of ownership

  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Ability to interpret engineering Engine Shop Manual (ESM) and Standard Practice Manual (SPM) requirements and institute best practices

  • Institutionalize LEAN practices to improve delivery

  • Provide mentorship and create training materials for new Special Process Owners

  • Standardize Quality Control Work Instructions in partnership with MRO global site-level Special Process Owners

  • Author audit checklists

  • Partner with the Global Research and Advanced Technology Engineering divisions to advance the state of the art and scale across the MRO network

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and 5+ years of chemical cleaning experience in a manufacturing facility.  (OR a minimum high school diploma / GED with an additional 4+ years of chemical cleaning experience in a manufacturing facility.).

Desired Skills:

  • MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) shop experience desired.

  • Special Process Owner certification in chemical cleaning, stripping, etching, plating, and ultrasonic cleaning desired.

  • Understanding and ability to direct LEAN improvements.

  • Demonstrated application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), GR&R (Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility), and SPC (Statistical Process Control) desired.

  • Greenbelt certification or extensive quality experience desired.

  • Solid project management skills and demonstrated history of effective horizontal leadership desired.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to identify problems and propose solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate within a global network and peers.

  • Ability to communicate with shop operators and business leaders to drive improvements.

  • Ability to calculate and present business cases in support of change.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
