About Mt Arthur Coal

 

New South Wales Energy Coal consists of the Mt Arthur Coal open-cut energy coal mine in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia. The site produces coal for international customers in the energy sector. 

About the Role

 

As a Shutdown Maintenance Supervisor at BHP, we will provide you an environment where health and wellbeing are seen as a pre-requisite for safety and productivity. This opportunity is being offered on a residential basis in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of NSW and you will enjoy a family friendly 4 day working week, with possible infrequent additional requests.  Flexible work is supported and encouraged at BHP. Leading shutdown maintenance activities for our Fixed Plant asset will provide you with challenges and varied scope of work during each and everyday. Leading a team of high performing Technicians, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Maintaining a high profile in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices to ensure a safe working environment and outcomes
  • Executing the shutdown maintenance plan in conjunction with Site Maintenance Execution, the planning team and other stakeholders
  • Promoting a high level of team interaction and coordination 
  • Managing the Major shutdowns from planning to execution
  • Optimising the utilisation of resources throughout the schedule week 
  • Identifying and providing input in the continuous improvement of our Maintenance processes 
  • Liaising with the Fixed Plant team to develop, validate and challenge the scope of work, including preparation requirements, isolation requirements and maintenance activities 
  • Liaising with the Planners to ensure schedule is updated during execution to reflect performance against plan 
  • Liaising with contractors for various activities such as mobilisation, task execution, close out and demobilisation

About You

 

As the successful applicant you will possesses the following skills and experience:
  

  • A genuine commitment to safety
  • Previous experience in leading a maintenance team in a frontline supervisory capacity
  • Previous experience leading a high performing team is critical
  • A thorough understanding the work management process
  • Planning and scheduling experience is desirable 
  • Continuous improvement and project management experience would be beneficial
  • Strong 1 SAP experience is desirable
  • Current C Class drivers licence 
  • Fixed Plant maintenance experience is beneficial
  • Mechanical or Electrical Trade or degree Qualifications desirable
  • Proven safety leadership skills in the field is a given
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills
  • Experience with structured work management processes is preferred
