At Queensland Rail, we are proud of the role we play in providing vital passenger and freight services.  Our team based in Toowoomba currently has two newly created 12-month fixed term opportunities for Signal Electricians, with potential to become permanent.

 

In this role you will carry out the installation, maintenance, and repair of all signalling equipment as well report on the performance and condition of signalling assets.  You will play a key role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our assets and services and achieving our vision of delivering world-class rail services for our customers.

 

Travelling regularly, to areas including Rosewood to Charleville, Toowoomba to Wallangarra and Warwick to Thallon, you will enjoy working outdoors for an industry leader who is committed to safety.

 

About the role

 

  • Repair and adjust mechanical signalling equipment.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with technical and operational specification and standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain all records and associated documentation relating to asset condition, maintenance programs and costing systems.
  • Report on actual work performed against the scheduled work program and report any equipment performance and condition irregularities.
  • Support the implementation and application of work procedures and practices to achieve continuous quality improvement.

Skills and experience required

 

  • Knowledge of wayside signalling equipment and relevant installation and maintenance standards.
  • Skills in the installation, maintenance, and fault rectification of wayside signalling equipment.
  • Knowledge of signalling safe working practices and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

 

Qualifications required:

 

  • Current Drivers Licence
  • CPR/LVR Certificate
  • Current Queensland Electrical Mechanic Licence or interstate equivalent
  • Certificate IV Electrical in Rail Signalling
