We are seeking applicants for a respiratory and sleep technologist position at Darwin Respiratory and Sleep Health. The applicant is required to participate in a shift roster, conduct ambulatory (home based sleep study), overnight in-lab diagnostic sleep studies, CPAP/Bi-Level implementation studies and perform lung function tests in both adults and children. The ideal applicant will be required to analyse the sleep studies/interpret lung function results and will be able to work independently. Excellent communication and organisational skills as well as flexibility to adapt to the organisations’ needs is highly essential.
Essential Criteria
- Qualifications or equivalent in Bachelor of Human Health Science/ Human Physiology, Nursing or Respiratory Science.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of continuous experience in well-established sleep/respiratory lab.
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification and proficiency in Polysomnography analysis as per the American Academy of Sleep Medicine standards (AASM). Registered as respiratory therapist/technologist/scientist.
- Able to perform spirometry/compressive lung function testing, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) titration polysomnography studies (PSG) and Bi Level studies as well as analysing the data.
- Participate in day to day administrative tasks and research activities.
- Willing to undergo a pre-employment police check and obtain working with children card (ochre card)
Highly Desirable
- Experience or credentialing in performing pulmonary function testing.
- Ability to become a member of Australian Sleep Technologists Association (ASTA) and Australian and New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science (ANZSRS)
- Professional credentialing from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or equivalent as a respiratory therapist/scientist.
- Willingness to participate in education/quality control/research.
- Clinical research experience will be valued.
- Driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote communities.
Preference will be given to experienced sleep/respiratory applicants who may best suit our organisation. Initial training will be provided to adapt to the new environment.
