It's a rewarding time to be working in NSW Health Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) services. With new policy and enhancements to our response to all forms of violence, the critical work with our agency partners is increasingly important to provide a seamless service response to children and young people who have experienced Sexual Assault, serious physical abuse and extreme neglect.
NSW Health Sexual Assault services provide a crisis response, medical and forensic assessment and management and ongoing interventions and support for children and adults who have experienced Sexual Assault. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Social Worker to join our service located in Gosford and providing services across the coast.

The Social Worker in the Sexual Assault Service (SAS) provides specialist integrated psychosocial (counselling), medical and forensic responses to adults and children who have experienced Sexual Assault. Psychological responses for children under 10 displaying problematic or harmful sexual behaviours for individuals, and their families, and consultation, support and education for professionals and communities.
The Social Worker provides specialist crisis/therapeutic counselling to victims of Sexual Assault (children and adults) and their non-offending family members within a trauma informed context. This involves crisis and medium to long term counselling intervention to assist recovery. As a Senior Clinician, the Social Worker is required to demonstrate clinical speciality, provide supervision to junior social work staff and clinical leadership within the team.
The Social Worker is to work closely with interdisciplinary colleagues and senior managers within Violence, Abuse and Neglect services to ensure the development and delivery of effective and pro-active social work services. The Social Worker will be expected to be active in the areas of service development, service evaluation and staff and student teaching.
