Ballarat Community Health is looking to recruit a Social Worker or Psychologist to work in our child-focused, multi-disciplinary team as part of the school readiness funding initiative. This is an exciting initiative that will provide kindergartens across the Central Highlands area including the Rural City of Ararat, City of Ballarat and the Shires of Golden Plains, Hepburn, Moorabool and Pyrenees with access to quality programs and allied health support to help children get the most out of their early learning.
You will enhance the professional and parenting practices of educators and families, as well as other members of the school readiness allied health support team (utilising a transdisciplinary approach), to promote kindergarten aged children’s self-regulation, positive and pro-social behaviours and enhance social and emotional wellbeing, using evidence-based practices. The work will focus on building the capability of educators and families to benefit all children they work with or care for through a mix of methods including (but not limited to) direct coaching, modelling, group training, professional development, and case consultation.
You will have:
Graduate or postgraduate degree in psychology or Bachelor of Social Work
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) or Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)
Knowledge and significant post qualification experience in the provision of current evidence-based psychology services to children and families
Experience working in a capability building and coaching role with educators and families.
Knowledge of and ability to work within the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF)
An understanding of the social model of health and the impact of disadvantage on health and wellbeing outcomes
