Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for a Social Worker - Senior. "Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community". The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Worker Senior role functions within the Preventable Hospitalisation Program which is a multidisciplinary team that promotes integrated service provision across the continuum, consistent with principles of client self-management and Hospital Avoidance.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Demonstrate a practical understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inequities, and health issues to deliver informed, evidence based culturally appropriate care.
  • Demonstrate high level communication and interpersonal skills in the provision of client care and advocacy. Including working collaboratively and in partnership with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, health service providers and other health professionals.
  • Deliver independent high level Social Work clinical practice with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision. Exercise professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence.
Remuneration value up to $11,770 p.m., comprising salary between $4409.80 - $4745.20 p.f., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4) (Fixed term full time 76hrs p.f. for six months).
