Due to the ongoing growth in this area we are looking for talented and well-rounded Software and Systems Engineers as well as Senior Software and Systems Engineers to contribute to continuous improvements in the development and delivery of world-class capabilities and systems. We have multiple permanent full-time opportunities available now.
South-East Queensland’s (SEQ) public transport and rail network is going through a significant transformation to change the way our public transport rail system will operate into the future.
The implementation of Cross River Rail (CRR) and the European Train Control System (ETCS) has seen continued growth within our Operational Systems Engineering (OSE) team.
Who are our Operations Systems Engineering team and what we do?
We have three teams that focus on business and safety critical software and systems functions supporting Train Control, Passenger Information and Asset Monitoring including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). As part of our wider team we also have our Engineering Delivery and OT Architecture & Security teams along with project and business support.
As a Software and Systems Engineer within the OSE team, you will be part of a team that desires to do things as efficiently as possible, we work in an agile way and are constantly refining how we can best live those principles to deliver value that enhances our customer and stakeholder experience continuously.
We are collaborative with our peers and apply our engineering skills to understand and drive the development of products that improve the scalability and performance of Queensland Rail’s Operational Systems as a whole.
We enjoy flexibility in the way we work, and diving into complex software and systems engineering challenges, while having the freedom to apply our innovative thoughts on improvements.
What you will bring:
Experience in delivering projects involving system requirements, design, architecture, software development and integration with other systems both internal and external.
Enthusiasm to be involved in all parts of the Software Development Lifecycle to support the development and maintenance of computer-based systems.
Hands on experience commissioning of new and upgraded systems and components.
Exceptional problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Experience and enjoyment for participating in technical discussions and coaching less experienced team members.
Ability to engage and effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders and vendors.
Help drive pragmatic decision making and trade-offs to meet both the team’s business objectives and long-term technical goals.
A test and learn mindset with curiosity, collaboration and care.

Qualifications:
Applicants must hold at the time of application Australian issued Bachelor Engineering – Electrical/Computer Science or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
