We’re hiring an experienced Solution Sales Manager (SSM) who will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic sales plan that will expand Life Sciences Solutions portfolio in ANZ Academic and Government markets. The role is expected to work collaboratively with a large and complex matrix of salespeople selling a suite of products with accountability for total new business revenue.
The position can be Chatswood head office or home-based Sydney and will report to the Global Solution Sales Director, Life Science Solutions. This job requires frequent travelling within territory.
About the team
Work closely with Global Solution Sales Director LSS A&G, LSS Marketing, Strategy, Product, Business Development and A&G RADs. Liaise on strategic and operational activities, with RSS Marketing, Business Development functions, Research Networks, STMJ, SD, Scopus & Solutions teams.
Your responsibilities:
Develop and execute sales strategy and planning for achievement of new sales target of LSS portfolio in territory
Create and execute the LSS portfolio penetration plan in collaboration with regional sales team. Align territory/account LSS portfolio plan with holistic territory/account plan
Responsible for coordinating and integrating crucial sales activities with appropriate segment team initiatives
Develops a deep understanding of the relevant customer segment the solutions are sold into, translating the solution value to be segment specific
Responsible for advising and collaborating on differentiated approach, solution packaging, and pricing proposals for LSS solutions in the A&G segment in territory
Identify network of influential key opinion leaders, key institutions, domain societies and governmental influencers in key markets
Develop a strong understanding of competitor landscape and be able to successfully position against these
Negotiate and close contracts for new sales
Successful transition of ownership of the account/ agreement to Account Manager & Customer Consultant, ensuring total growth on total base of the portfolio
Stay abreast of development in field and market segment, and share with Elsevier
Provide continuous feedback to product and marketing teams and participate in projects to help marketing in meeting strategic sales objectives.
Channel feedback to the Product organization for continued product enhancement and new development needs, including for customized solutions
Required qualifications and skills:
BS Required or Advanced degree in life sciences; Science or researcher background is a plus
At least 5 years sales experience; experience in management will be a strong plus.
Background in complex solution sales approach – “Consultative Selling”
Excellent analytical and presentation skills
Preferred experience and knowledge of specific solution areas (competitive) in Life Sciences
Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills; Fluency in English.
Experienced working in an international matrix organization
Advanced understanding of differing international business cultures.
