A great opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Solution Engineering Manager (SEM) to join our team to enable delivery of current capture, bid and contracted project work. The Senior SEM will manage the solution engineering activities for the related level (solution or solution element) and will focus on the technical management of how the engineering will be delivered. Responsibilities for the SEM will include:-
Defines the system development cycle and defines the process, practices and tools (PP&T) applicable to the product / project based on the BL / Domain PP&T reference system and tailored based on project specific constraints
Ensures global consistency of the engineering process, practices and tools, organises the co-engineering then approves lower level solution elements’ or components’ engineering plans including those flown down to subcontractors and partners.
Identifies the engineering skills needed to ensure Bid / Project / Product delivery
Develop and maintain the schedule in line with the WBS for all Engineering activities.
Ensures the Engineering Performance initiatives of its Domain are properly deployed in their Bid / Project / Product
Guarantees commitments to the project including satisfaction of stakeholders requirements within constraints provided by the Architect and the Project Design Authority (PDA).
Optimises technical work by organising system engineering reviews and participating to those of lower level solution elements from design to validation and acceptance.
Tracks competitiveness KPI, performs root cause analysis of problems and conduct associated corrective actions (Performance initiatives) at their level
Contributes to the Quality Assurance activities by ensuring visibility on the engineering work packages for the Bid / Project / Product QAM
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
Qualified engineer, able to meet the requirements of a Chartered Engineers Status.
10 years of engineering experience in coordinating of projects
A high level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
Experience in Configuration Management
Understanding of quality systems and procedures.
Familiar with Engineering tools required in the delivery of a design solution
Ability to use standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Ability to understand Defence user community and associated operational environment.
Commercial Services & Support delivery with a sound understanding of the business principles and practices
