Perth Office
South32's corporate office is based in the heart of Perth's CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

About the Role:
This role is a Permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday. This role will preferably be based at our head office in Perth. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)
The Technology Risk and Stewardship Specialist will be responsible for providing specialized support to the Digital Technology and Innovation and Business Optimisation teams within South32's Technical function. The role will enable each team to manage their respective risks effectively and support the achievement of South32's stewardship mandate via the execution of stewardship health checks and reviews. Reporting to the Manager of Technology Risk and Stewardship,
Other key role responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
  • Providing specialized, independent, and technically capable risk support and coaching to 1st Line personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with 1st Line to understand how and ensure risks are being managed in accordance with the expectations of South32's system of risk management.
  • End-to-end execution of individual Stewardship Health Checks and Reviews, which includes planning and scoping activities; executing fieldwork to assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls and risk management activities; the identification of gaps, improvement opportunities and positive observations; and facilitating discussions with key stakeholders to confirm the validity of observations and agree actions with 1st Line personnel.
  • Overseeing and reporting on the performance of core risk routine and training expectations, in particular, this includes weekly monitoring of Risk KPIs and the preparation of material to be presented at the monthly Local Risk and Assurance Committee meeting.
About You:
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
  • Strong experience in general risk management and risk management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of cyber security, privacy, general technology controls, and the usage of technology at an operation (including operational technology).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to strategically assess technology risks, identify the root cause of an issue and produce pragmatic and sustainable recommendations.
  • Effective negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise work to achieve effective results
Qualifications for this position are:
  • Bachelor's degree in technology, business, finance, or related field preferred
