About the Role

 

Reporting to the Principal Planning, the Specialist Cost is a key role in the BMA NPI Operations Team, responsible for 5 Year Plan, 2 Year Budget and Quarterly Forecasts for our Non-process Infrastructure, supporting and driving the continuous improvement pipeline and delivery of effective timely analysis.

 

This is a permanent job opportunity based in Brisbane office, with occasional site visits required.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Cost Control - Primary responsibility for monthly internal cost review process and implementation of initiatives to drive budget adherence and Continuous Improvements identification.
  • Lead financial planning activities – quarterly forecast and budgeting process
  • Regular and ad hoc reporting on department KPIs. Monthly and routine reporting across the Operations department as well as response to ad hoc requests from the wider business
  • Option analysis on various business scenarios to help with problem solving and business decisions. Qualitative and quantitative modelling of business processes, contracts and scenarios to inform decision making as well as identification of optimisation opportunities.

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will have minimum 5-7 years’ relevant experience in accounting and finance fields. Be comfortable working under tight timeframes, able to prioritise and maintain a high level of attention to detail.  You will have great communication and interpersonal skills, essential to build constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders and across functions. A graduate degree in either Accounting, Finance or Analytics is essential, with professional qualifications such as CPA or CA highly regarded.

 

You have demonstrated experience in performance reporting to measure progress and performance against plans and strategies, and to articulate and quantify the KPIs of the function.

 

With significant financial planning and cost control experience, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in leading key financial management activities, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience supporting financial performance reporting to measure progress and performance against budgets, forecasts, plans and strategies, and to articulate and quantify the value proposition of the function.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills to process large amount of data and produce presentations 
  • Tertiary qualification in a finance/accounting discipline
  • Experience in Power BI and SAP is highly regarded
