Specialist Geometallurgist
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: 5:2 - Monday to Friday
We are looking for a Specialist Geometallurgist to join our Exploration team and provide metallurgical support for the development opportunities being explored for lithium and copper projects across Australia and overseas.
In this role you will be responsible for developing and coordinating metallurgical testing programs and to analyse and report on their outcomes to support the development opportunities being explored by the Exploration team.
This role is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to become a key player within Exploration team for all material characterisation and geometallurgical related studies in non-Fe space. Working a Mon-Fri roster in Perth office you will be managing and ensuring all geometallurgical studies, test work programs and activities are conducted to a highest standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support business case development by identifying and understanding the full resource extraction value chain and its key drivers.
- Coordinate the key inputs and outputs of the study process, building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
- Desktop review and analysis of current beneficiation practices associated with ore body signature characteristics
- Support the effective collection of field data (drilling, test work and analysis) to improve Orebody Knowledge
- Coordination, planning and supervision of all metallurgical test-work program at external laboratories
- Investigate novel ore processing technologies relevant to ore body signature characteristics to support future projects
- Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Process or Chemical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in lithium and/or copper metallurgical characterisation
- Experience with hydrometallurgical test-work flowsheet design, execution and management
- Demonstrated experience with grinding, leaching and flotation circuits
- Experience with engineering studies from concept to completion
- Good report writing, effective communication skills and displaying good relations with third parties including commercial labs, with a good safety culture and risk perception.
