About the role
We are looking for a locum Speech Pathologist (Grade 2 or experienced grade 1) to join our community based stroke rehabilitation team on a casual basis. This flexible role is to support a short term clinical vacancy due to parental leave until May 2024. Along with a full time Speech Pathologist you will work with a multidisciplinary team (including medical and nursing) dedicated to stroke rehabilitation. Based at the Peter James Centre and/or Angliss Hospital you will work in the Early Stroke Discharge (ESD) Program providing both centre and home based therapy to Eastern Health patients undergoing intensive stroke rehabilitation. Using your clinical and leadership skills you will work closely with the ESD team to coordinate and manage the caseload. You will be skilled in assessing and treating a wide range of speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disorders resulting from a stroke, providing rehabilitation from a “patient’s first” perspective. Using your highly developed time management skills you will thrive in this exciting role and the opportunities and challenges it brings.
Along with being a valued member of the speech pathology department you will enjoy working with dynamic allied health colleagues and will be well supported by a senior Speech Pathologist and a team leader. Pending clinical demand, you may be required to support the Community Rehabilitation speech pathology team at times and as negotiated.

- Previous experience working with a stroke caseload
