Our client, Perth African Nations Sports Association (PANSA), is a not-for-profit sports organisation concerned with the development, promotion and implementation of sporting programs and pathways for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds. Their aim is to use sports as a vehicle for social change and cohesion, especially among African Australians who have made Western Australia their home.
They are seeking a tenacious and strategic Sports Development Officer to join their growing team in Girrawheen.
The Role:
PANSA is seeking a permanent, full-time Sports Development Officer to promote PANSA's vision and identify sustainability opportunities to ensure the association's longevity.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Undertake detailed sustainability modelling to support PANSA projects and identify opportunities to embed sustainability solutions including writing, administering, and acquitting grant funding to ensure the sustainability of PANSA
- Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to positively influence the sustainability of PANSA
- Support continual improvement to effect positive change within PANSA
- Act as an advocate on behalf of PANSA to promote our achievements, vision and goals
- Increase awareness among African families of the importance of health and well-being in the lives of young people, and also in the older generation.
- Encourage behaviour change leading to good health.
- Increase African representation in mainstream sport.
- Improved cultural harmony and the break down of racial barriers between mainstream and African Australians
- Encourage lifestyle change leading to a decrease in incidents of health and wellbeing issues and antisocial behaviour amongst young people from African backgrounds
- Increase self-confidence among young people from African backgrounds and the development of strong role models within the community
About You:
You will be a professional and positive Sports Development Officer who has high attention to detail and is able to work well under pressure.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Qualifications in Community Development / Sports Management or relevant experience
- Previous experience with tender, bid, grant, budget and / or report writing
- Exceptional customer service with an ability to communicate clearly
- Excellent organisational, analytical and time management skills
- Working with Children Check
- First Aid Certificate
- National Police Clearance
- Current Driver's Licence

- Provides advice to sporting bodies, non-government organisations, government bodies, community agencies and organisations on the development, management and promotion of sports to and for CaLD demographics.
- Advocates for and raises issues concerning the development of sports and sporting opportunities on behalf of African communities based in WA.
- Provides sporting opportunities at entry and advanced levels for recent arrivals.
- Provides appropriate personal development pathways to participants and communities of African backgrounds based in WA.
