Role Responsibilities
The role of Sky News / Fox Sports News Video journalist based in Adelaide requires someone with a passion for news and sport and a genuine love of story-telling.
The core skills required of a Video Journalist include that of a reporter and camera operator.
Video journalists may be required to work early mornings and late nights, depending on the assignment.
You will report on news and sport stories from Adelaide, that have national significance or appeal, including live reporting and packaging.
You will pitch and deliver content that is original, dynamic and engaging for the Sky News audience.
- Liaise with senior editorial staff in Sydney to decide upon news and sport coverage
- Shoot, write and present stories from start to finish, on a daily basis
- Report live on location on breaking news and sport stories, multiple times a day
- File for broadcast and digital platforms
- Undertake interviewing and reporting duties, in both recorded and live situations.
- Work with editorial teams to ensure packages are delivered to a high standard, featuring the best pictures and grabs.
- Create and maintain an effective contact list
- Pitch original stories and ideas
- Seek legal advice on all court stories and making sure it is passed on to relevant editorial staff
- Manage a small team of guest Liaisons to support the editorial team
Skills and Experience
- Experience in news reporting, including the ability to gather, assess and comprehend relevant news information and present it in an informative manner for our audience.
- Video-journalist skills including ability to shoot news content and operate LiveU units.
- Ability to write, produce and edit news content for on-air use.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong news and sport knowledge.
- Solid understanding of media law.
