Job description

In this role, you will create strong working relationships across multiple business groups to define and execute the strategy and roadmap for digital products used to enable research and engineering Materials Data Lifecycle Management, Materials Informatics and Lab Information Management. Accountable for all aspects of the end-to-end product lifecycle, the Sr Staff Technical Product Manager oversees everything product related setting priorities and managing new development and operations that deliver best in class digital capabilities. Your priority is seamless integration and alignment of perspectives from a broad set of stakeholders: Digital Technology leaders, Business & Externals materials science and engineering leaders, product owners, architects, and developers.

In this role you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of business goals and processes to inform product priorities and improvement recommendations.
  • Develop strong relationships and regularly interact with customers/stakeholders in VOC requirements-gathering, fine tuning, and obtaining product feedback to shape the product strategy and surface and prioritize needs.
  • Lead product strategy, roadmap, feature definition, planning, and life cycle management efforts.
  • Monitor business, market, and technology trends to inform product strategy and proactively propose new solutions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Materials Information Systems competitive environment and help the organization maintain the competitive edge.
  • Establish product roadmaps and release plans that satisfy requirements and achieve business outcomes.
  • Contribute to translating business requirements into actionable product and technical requirements.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate product performance and proactively champion product improvements.
  • Guide the product engineering team to scope, plan and deliver work, applying established delivery methodologies (e.g., agile methods) and best practices (e.g., reusability).
  • Proactively identify and resolve blockers to achieve business objectives for the product, including technical and resourcing challenges.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of the technology stack and impact on final product
  • Partners with Development Leadership to ensure healthy development process
  • Ensure alignment and adherence to standards (e.g., architecture, compliance, security).
  • Increase adoption and consumption of product capabilities.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Information Technology OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Information Technology.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional technical product management experience.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
  • Must be 18 years or older
