Job description

Ameriprise Financial has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Actuary role! The individual would be responsible for developing, improving, operating, and documenting a variety of sophisticated actuarial models. Perform actuarial, financial, and risk analysis, and communicate the results to others across the company. Serve as the subject matter expert in assigned projects and may have an expanded scope and responsibility within a project.

Responsibilities

  • Major contributor on the team responsible for the Long-Term Care and Disability Income Protection GAAP/Stat reserve process. This includes calculating, analyzing, and communicating results effectively to leaders and peers across various functional groups.
  • Heavily involved in Prophet implementation projects including LTC and DI GAAP/Stat reserves, development of monthly processes and creation of analytical tools.
  • Assist and help drive various projects, including Long Duration Targeted Improvements, Cash Flow Testing, end-to-end valuation automation, etc.
  • Build and present exhibits that assist with year-end reporting.
  • Professional development to maintain Actuarial credentials.


Required Qualifications

  • All Introductory ASA exams plus 3 Actuarial/Advanced ASA Exams or Requirements
  • Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) coursework completion
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4-years) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields.
  • 5-7 years of actuarial experience
  • Positive relationship and communication skills in working with colleagues.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MS Excel, VBA, MS Access, and other database applications.
