About the Role
An exciting opportunity to join our General Medicines team as a Strategic Commercial and Business Development Manager in a 12-month contract role.
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the National Key Account Manager, the Strategic Commercial and Business Development Manager will strategically partner with both internal and external customers collaboratively, delivering value by providing mutually beneficial commercial and clinical outcomes, to improve patient lives by co-ordinating Sanofi business in the following areas:
Drive increased revenue of total Sanofi business through new business opportunities and strategic contracting negotiations
Delivering the Sanofi value-added offering to generate Return On Investment (ROI) positive sales outcomes
Ensure the seamless supply of all Sanofi medication into the hospital channel
Leverage Customer relationships for market and competitive landscape to shape and inform commercial decisions.
Responsibilities
Hospital Contracting and Private Hospital Tenders
Negotiate all Hospital Contracts and Private Hospital Tenders in line with General Medicines Strategic Pillars with focus on maximising price and profitability for key strategic brands
Negotiate with Customer the appropriate Product mix and volume targets as benchmark for Contractual/Tender performance
Review all Contracts and Private Hospital Tenders commercial and legal terms and ensure they comply with relevant Acts, legal demand, supply, and ethical standards, hence mitigating business risk for Sanofi
Coordinating and implementing the negotiated Contracts/Tenders in a timely and accurate manner that optimizes success by partnering with all relevant internal stakeholders (Legal, Supply, Trade, Marketing, Regulatory, Communications) and process (TREX, ePAF, e-Contracting)
Conducting Quarterly Customer Business Review meetings to review current performance to target and address and gaps in deliverables. Build commercial partnership by leveraging broader Sanofi value add to quantify costs, benefits, and value.
Evaluate all existing agreements prior to expiry and complete seamlessly newly negotiated arrangements
Management and Strategy Implementation
Strategically manage our Key Accounts/ Hospital Networks/ Private Hospital Buying Groups and develop Key Account Partnerships by understanding, objectives/KPI for the Accounts and alignment with our strategic priorities
Demonstrate an expert knowledge of territory through the analysis of innovative solutions for positive outcomes/ROI in line with each hospital/network’s mode of operation.
Extensive understanding of the Hospital pharmacy landscape and the various roles and responsibilities of the hospital pharmacy stakeholders to partner and drive alignment to achieve win /win outcomes.
Adopt an agile approach to pivot with strategic direction depending on the stage of the lifecycle of Sanofi brands and commercial decisions
Partner and implement opportunities with the sales team to accelerate strategic execution of brand priorities
Customer Engagement: Building External and Internal business relationships
Maximise Omni channel approach to achieve planned contact with key personnel in Key Accounts focusing on the business drivers/decisions makers (CEO, CFO, Medical Director, Drug Evaluation Committee/DTC, Director of Pharmacy, Heads of Department, Procurement Managers, State Tender influencers)
Explore and build commercial opportunities with other industry partners eg SHPA, Rural Pharmacist Association
Collaborate with Marketing, Medical and Sales across General Medicines, Vaccines, Speciality Care and CHC to gain business growth through commitment to Sanofi products as directed by approved strategic approach.
Collaborate with business partners (Supply, Reg, Customer service, CSU, Medical, Legal, Trade, Communications, EBI, Contracting Excellence) to ensure seamless execution of Sanofi priorities and supporting Play To Win behaviours
What you will bring
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field e.g. Business, Commerce, Marketing, Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine Eg. Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
Key Account Management (or knowledge of the principles)
Strong business analytical skills
Thorough and current knowledge of the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
Experience in Networking within the Hospital sector
Agile and growth mindset
Digital capabilities
